Rabat, First long break

Leaving the guesthouse after having Alergie and skin rush, we felt an invisible force pulling us back toward the mountains. The idea of following the coast didn’t excite us as much. My health wasn’t at its best either—at a pharmacy, I checked my blood pressure: 102/50, dangerously low.We pedalled 13 kilometres out of Rabat and stopped at a park for a break. That’s when a mysterious figure approached us. He stood in front of us, reached into his bag, and pulled out a photo.

“My name is Miloud Siadi. I was in the Moroccan national cycling team. I saw you leaving Rabat and I wanted to say Hello.”

Meeting Miloud

This 71-year-old man, fit and full of energy, He sat down, proudly sharing stories of his cycling career and showing us photos from the Tour du Maroc. Then, he disappeared—only to return on a stunning Peugeot bike that made my heart race with envy.

Miloud took us to the best sardine restaurant we had ever tried and insisted on treating us. Before we knew it, he was offering us a place to stay in his guest apartment, without hesitation, without conditions. When I asked why, he simply said, “This is ‘Allah GPS.’ Allah guided me to you.”

Miloud introduced us to his cycling friends and helped us find a repair shop for my failing rear hub. I’m still struggling with my rear hub since I regretlly made amaintaince in Parede Close to Lisbon in Portugal and was the worst Bike mechanic ever.

road signs in Morocco seemed more like decoration than guidance. Biking there felt suicidal, but somehow, Miloud manoeuvred it effortlessly.

Searching for a bike Mechanic

We met Othman, another passionate cyclist, who had won multiple tours in Morocco and Africa. He tried finding a new hub for my bike but failed. Instead, he spent four hours meticulously repairing it, a feat that seemed almost impossible given the complexity of the Shimano Th- 601 Deor.

the last night in Rabat, we went together on a mission to find some food for a dog who got hit by a car and left on the side of the road.
then Miloud talked with some people who knew someone who could help the dog.

Dog needed Help

We had to return to Europe for a few weeks after Sandra’s father had a serious bike accident that caused a head injury, We left our bike at Miloud’s place.

We spent about 15 days in Rabat, the time was flying. we are very grateful to Miloud and his family for treating us like part of their own family. now we are back and excited to continue our journey.
