I feel much better now and am letting go of modern life and the amazing expat community in Abidjan. It’s hard to let go of the comfort of the body and the soul.
I’ve never been to a Holi Festival before, nor to India where it originated, but the one we attended in Abidjan was truly something I enjoyed a lot.
The nice discussions on any subject over dinner with Joel are not easy to replace.
Joel New All Corner in the City Where the best Vegan Food, Tawanis Food ”I wont take you to shitty Palces” This is his famous Sentence.
Joel went to Taiwan and returned with a new MSR Dragonfly stove instead of the broken 8-month-old MSR Whisperlite, which is still under a ”worthless” warranty. He also brought back two new Shimano chains.
This was a clear decision: we needed this break to take care of our bodies and souls. We required recovery, as since our time in Guinea, we had not experienced any real sense of relaxation or mental safety. We had been exposed to many challenges, and it was often difficult to defend our private sphere, which we needed from time to time.We truly enjoyed each French toast breakfast, Shabbat dinner, board game evening, bread baking, movie night with popcorn, and peaceful walks through the nights in Abidjan.
I still can’t believe it’s been almost a month and a half in Abidjan with Joel. I’ve truly enjoyed every moment of it. Both Sandra and I had the opportunity to reflect on many things, including our travel experiences and what we’ve learned from the last 13000 km we’ve travelled, as well as from all the conflicts we faced. It has been a pleasure to consider Abidjan and Joel as my home for this past month and a half. See you soon, buddy! we already miss you!
